Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University invites applications from eligible candidates for admission into M.Phil. & Ph.D. programmes in English, Hindi, Telugu, Business Management, Commerce, Education, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Economics, History, Library & Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology for the Academic Year 2015-16.

Eligibility 

A candidate should possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) of marks for admission into both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.

Admission Procedure 

Admission into M.Phil./Ph.D. programme shall be through an entrance examination (written test) followed by an interview. However, the applicants qualified at the UGC/CSIR/JRF/ NET/SLET/M.Phil./GATE tests are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. However, they need to face the interview. 

Medium 

The medium of instruction and examination for M.Phil./Ph.D., entrance test, course work and writing dissertation/thesis shall be English only. In case of languages, the medium of instruction and other activities shall be in the language concerned. 

How to Apply 

The candidates can download the Application-cum-Prospectus for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes from the university website www.braou.ac.in and submit the filled in application form along with photo copies of certificates of the qualifying examination with marks memos and a Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of The Registrar, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. Separate applications have to be submitted for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes if the candidate wants to apply for both.

Selection
Fee Structure
Students admitted have to pay the relevant fee in two equal installments or in one lumpsum within the prescribed date mentioned in the Provisional Admission Offer Letter. All payments should be made through demand draft obtained from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of "The Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad" payable at Hyderabad. No other mode of payment shall be accepted. The following information should be given on the reverse side of the Demand Drafts before submitting in the CDVL office.
If a student fails to pay the 2nd instalment fee by the due date with or without late payment, 2nd tern study material shall not be dispatched. However, in exceptional cases, the university may permit students to continue their studies by paying the second term fee for the next session and attending contact sessions subject to payment of the following penalties.

a) First Deferment: 600/-
b) Second Deferment: 1000/-
a) First Deferment: Rs. 500/-
b) Second Deferment: Rs. 1000/-
1. Fee once paid will not be returned by the university under any circumstances. All disputes are subject to the Greater Hyderabad Jurisdiction.
2. After the payment of Deferment fee, the student can complete the course within three years from the date of admission, which stands as the base year.
